Heraldische Gemeinschaft Westfalen

The Heraldische Gemeinschaft Westfalen (HGW) - or Westphalian Heraldry Society in English translation - is a non-profit aociety which researches, designs, and registers arms for individuals with ancestral background within the borders of the Holy Roman Empire. Once registered by the Society personal arms have legal protection in Germany under German Civil Law.

I have been honoured by the Society with the appointment of HGW Pursuivant Extraordinary. The following arms have been designed by the Society as proper to this appointment.

The badge which goes with this appointment and is incorporated in the full achievement above is shown on the right. The blazon is as follows:

Per fess argent and gules, in chief a dragon courant of the second above a bar vair in pale in base a unicorn rampant of the first armed, crined and unguled Or the shield ensigned with a coronet of a pursuivant extraordinary of the Westphalian Heraldry Society. Behind the shield are set two herald's batons in saltire.

An exemplification of these arms by Alexander Kurov is below.
